Step Three Hundred and Thirty-Eight
Step 338. Today I Will Be Attentive.
Be attentive upon the hour today and have confidence that being attentive will yield its own true results for you. Without judgment and evaluation, you will see through all fearful appearances that the world may present to you. You will see through all fearful appearances that your imagination may present to you, for all fearful appearances are born of and substantiated by imagination. In being attentive to the world, you recognize the world’s confusion and its need for Knowledge. This will confirm your own confusion and need for Knowledge and will make you happy that you are now preparing to receive Knowledge itself.
In your deeper meditation practices be attentive, be present and give yourself in stillness within the sanctuary of Knowledge. You need only be attentive. Judgment is not necessary. Be attentive and you will penetrate the false and you will receive the true. For true attention will always give you that which is true, and false attention will always give you that which is false.
Today you strengthen this faculty of mind, this ability to be attentive. You strengthen this for yourself and for the world, which needs to be recognized. For the world needs to be loved, and love only comes through true recognition.
Practice 338: Two 30-minute practice periods. Hourly practice.
May 25, 2014 Round One: Today I had an opportunity to be attentive and I hope I made the right decision based on what I heard. Even though I am often under the impression that Knowledge is speaking to me loud and clear, there are still days when I find doubt taking over again. Sometimes I feel I am making it all up to suit myself. With Knowledge, though, there must be an experience of the truth that goes beyond my own expectations and assumptions.
I keep opening Secrets of Heaven to page 245 where it says, “It is ill advised for you to seek greater spiritual experiences if your personal life in the world is in disarray. This will lead to dishonesty and ultimately failure.”
July 14, 2015 Round Two: Lake Sterzh. “Be attentive today so you may experience yourself in the world.”
I feel I am attentive, to a certain extent. I am aware of how I react to things and immediately notice when I overreact or react inappropriately. It does not stop me from reacting the same way the next time, mind you, but at least I am attentive. And I am trying to adjust. The fact that most of the world is without Knowledge, or not aware of and attentive to Knowledge, is obvious. Knowledge is there, but people don’t recognize it, are not privy to its workings, mostly because they don’t want to be. Some are awakening, often to different degrees and in different ways, still fewer are aware of Knowledge, or call it that. I like calling it that, it suits what I “know” so far.
